Friendly Student Robotics Competition in Nonthaburi, Thailand: ICSN’s Panda Robotics Cup

The Panda Robotics Cup, hosted by International Christian School Nonthaburi (ICSN) in Nonthaburi, Thailand, is a dynamic student robotics competition that brings together the school’s 16 student robotics teams and other teams from across Nonthaburi and Bangkok. This year’s Panda Robotics Cup is a joint effort with the RAT Foundation and Thai tech company, ANITECH, reinforcing a shared mission to advance hands-on STEM education and robotics in Thailand.

A Unique End-of-Season Robotics Event

While most robotics competitions in Thailand conclude with the VEX World Championship in late spring (April to May), the Panda Robotics Cup serves as a special end-of-season activity, or “after-party,” at ICSN for dedicated robotics teams. It’s an opportunity for students in Nonthaburi and Bangkok who may have missed other competitions to gain experience, or for new teams, families and friends to see what a robotics competition looks like firsthand.

The Panda Cup Challenge: VEX IQ’s Rapid Relay

This educational robotics event uses the VEX Robotics platform, specifically the VEX IQ challenge of the season, Rapid Relay. The challenge requires robotics for students to strategically program their robots to shoot the most balls in a one-minute match, testing their engineering, coding, and problem-solving skills. The Panda Robotics Cup atmosphere is relaxed, with a focus on learning and fun over intense pressure to win.

Our Partners: Inspiring STEM and Technology in Thailand

Panda Robotics Cup was a success thanks to the ICSN team, volunteers, and the collaborative spirit of its partners: The RAT Foundation and Anitech Thailand.

Meanwhile, Anitech Thailand, a consumer electronics company, sponsored exciting prizes for both participants and the audience. Mr. Pitchyen (Thomas) Hongpakdee, ANITECH’s founder and CEO, inspired ICSN students about the importance of learning STEM, technology and robotics at a young age.
