ICSN FAQs

Our school year is made up of two semesters from August to December and January to May. Our holiday breaks are similar to other local schools. For actual dates, you can view our School Calendar page.

We want students to wear our standard school uniform as well as the PE uniform (which are available to purchase through our office) and encourage this dress code policy in age-appropriate ways.

If your child has a food allergy, please inform the school office. ICSN cannot guarantee a completely allergen-free environment, but will take every precaution to ensure your child is not offered ingredients that may trigger the allergy. We will accommodate all children as best as possible, but you are encouraged to provide a snack or lunch for your child if this is a high concern.

We maintain an enrollment size at a maximum of 20 students in our Kindergarten classes and 25 students in our Elementary and Secondary classes.

All our teachers have (at minimum) bachelor degrees, have undergone background checks and possess experiences related to education and/or early childhood development. Our teachers also embody integral qualities to help your child develop and learn. They are attentive, collaborative, nurturing, passionate and thoughtful. You can learn more about our educators on our Meet Our Faculty page to read about our teaching faculty’s experiences and teaching philosophies.

We have a closed campus policy to maintain current health and safety precautions, so parents cannot enter school premisses without prior approval. These measures are not meant to be an obstacle for you though! Parents are welcome to make appointments through the main office if they want to meet with the principal, talk to class teachers, or see our facilities.

At ICSN we prioritize English as the primary language and encourage our students to speak in English for the entirety of their time at the school. We also understand that English may not be the dominant language for all families in our school community. With that in mind, the office and operations staff are native Thai language speakers who can accommodate parents or guardians who would prefer to communicate in Thai. We also have a great bilingual team ready to help with interpretation and translation as needed.

Applications are accepted all year round. The school tuition and fees are prorated depending on your child’s start date.

After reviewing your application, you and your child will be invited to an interview with the School Principal. Through interactions and a natural conversation, the School Principal will get to know you and your child better to see if ICSN and your family would be a good fit.

ICSN welcomes children from all backgrounds to apply. In consultation with a qualified Special Educator, we consider the application of special needs children on a case by case basis.

ICSN reserves the right to determine the proper placement (based on admissions testing and the principal interview) to ensure that a student learns at a developmentally-appropriate level. Student applicants must be of enrollment age by October 1st or have completed the previous grade equivalent.

 Kindergarten   Elementary   Secondary

 K3 5yrs  G3 8yrs  G8 13yrs

Applicants who cannot be enrolled due to lack of space in a grade level will be placed on a waiting list. A member of our Admissions team will contact you when space becomes available.

Your child’s success in adapting and adjusting to ICSN depends on many factors. Having a student applicant take an English Proficiency Test and have an interview with a School Principal will help us better anticipate how your child would transition to our school’s teaching model. Depending on the results of these two steps in the Admissions Process, your child may be accepted, accepted with conditions, or declined at the time.

We follow American curriculum standards. Our teaching guides and learning expectations have been adopted from the public works of the Massachusetts Department of Education, International Society for Technology in Education, and Commonsense Media.

ICSN primarily recruits from the United States of America and Canada to be homeroom and/or core subject teachers. We also have teaching faculty and staff from Thailand, the Philippines, Japan, and China in support of our goals to be a school that offers a global mindset in its instruction and care of the whole child.

Elementary (G1-G5) uses the following textbooks and workbooks: English Journeys by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, My Math by McGraw-Hill, and Science Fusion by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

Secondary Middle School (G6-G8) uses the following textbooks: Pre-Algebra, Algebra and Geometry by Glencoe, Integrated iScience (Green Level and Blue Level) by McGraw-Hill, Literature by Glencoe, and Grammar by Heinle.

Secondary High School (G9-G12) uses the following textbooks: Algebra 2 by Glencoe, Advanced Mathematics (Pre-Calc) by Glencoe, Statistics by Cengage, Calculus by McDougal-Littell and Business Math by McGraw-Hill. Science classes use Biology by Glencoe, Chemistry by Glencoe, Principles of Physics by Thompson Books and Global (Environmental) Science by Kendall Hunt. English classes use Literature by Glencoe, as well as various novels.

Every teacher provides a syllabus for their class. The syllabus summarizes classroom rules, outlines the course study, and gives a grading rubric so students better understand what is expected from them.

When your child is enrolled as a student at ICSN, you will be provided with user login details to ParentsWeb via the email you use in the student application. With ParentsWeb, parents can access their children’s grades and see what kind of assignments or projects they have been given by their teachers. It’s a great online resource for parents to be able to see the progress of their child’s academics. Report cards are distributed twice a year at the end of each semester. It’s recommended for parents to directly contact teachers before the final grading period with any questions or requests.
