The air was filled with excitement as families and friends gathered at International Christian School Nonthaburi on February 7, 2025, for the Chinese New Year presentations. This annual tradition is an enjoyable cultural experience for the school community, as students present what they have been learning in their Chinese Language Arts classes through performances.

Raising Global Citizens
International Christian School Nonthaburi is a global community that immerses its students in different cultures. Through celebrations like Chinese New Year, students are exposed to traditions and customs beyond their own. ICSN students learn to appreciate diversity and develop empathy and respect for people from different backgrounds, preparing them to be respectful, responsible global citizens.
The Year of the Golden Snake – Cultural Fusion Presentations
After weeks of practicing their songs and dances, ICSN students wowed the audience at the Lunar New Year celebration with unique performances incorporating time-honored Chinese traditions with contemporary styles.

Each class’s Chinese New Year presentation fuses Chinese, Thai, and Western elements. Through these presentations, Chinese Language Arts teachers hope to impart timeless Chinese wisdom to the students and deepen their appreciation and respect for cultural diversity.
“Students enjoyed practicing Chinese songs and learning about Chinese poetry and culture.” -Mr. Brian Huaiping, Chinese Language Arts Teacher

Students in grades 1 to 3 danced to new and traditional Chinese songs with a twist. Some well-known Chinese songs were sung with modern melodies and cool dance moves. These upbeat performances hyped the audience, which erupted with cheers and laughter at every performance.

In grades 4 to 6, students graced the stage with more performances, including Chinese songs, proverbs, and poetry. Through musical performances, the students approached their presentations collaboratively.

Mr. Brian Huiping adds, “It is also good to see how the students work together as a team while learning more about Chinese culture through songs and poetry.”
A Cherished School Tradition at ICSN
The Lunar New Year celebration at International Christian School Nonthaburi is a cherished custom for our school community. Like homes around the world, ICSN values the importance of family and honoring tradition and looks forward to the new year with hope. The program concluded with a benediction: a catchy poem of blessing led by Ajan Sahat, school founder, reminding us that our blessings and hopes for the new year come from and through Jesus Christ.
