ICSN is proud to see the fruits of their commitment to college readiness in taking Advanced Placement classes. We are confident you will continue to thrive in your respective universities in Thailand and abroad!

What is the Advanced Placement (AP) Program?

Like over 6,000 other schools in Thailand and abroad, International Christian School Nonthaburi offers its students an Advanced Placement (AP) program.

An International Standardized Program

The AP program was founded by The College Board, an American non-profit organization with a mission to connect over 7 million students worldwide to college success annually. The College Board is the pioneer of SAT® and AP®, which expand students’ opportunities and help them develop the skills they need.

Students taking an AP course will participate in classes led by trained teachers and complete them by taking a standardized yearly exam.

Developing Valuable Skills in Preparation for College

AP courses at ICSN can develop valuable skills in students, prepare them for university, and help them gain an advantage in their college applications.

  • College-Level Courses: AP courses cover many subjects, including math, science, social studies, languages, and more, that serve as an introduction to their future college courses.
  • Rigorous Curriculum: These courses require students to think critically and analyze in-depth information.
  • AP Exams: To complete their course, students take a standardized AP exam to demonstrate their mastery of the material.

Who Should Take the Advanced Placement (AP) Program at ICSN?

The College Board mentions that all students are welcome to take an AP program if they are motivated and willing to push themselves to learn and do more in their AP courses.

Why Should Students Take the Advanced Placement Program?

There are many benefits in taking AP classes:

A Head Start for College

AP program students have a better chance of earning college credit while still in high school. Those who score highly on their AP exams can skip introductory college courses. However, even if AP students don’t acquire college credit, a good score gives them an advantage in taking higher-level courses.

Stand Out to Colleges

Colleges and universities value well-rounded individuals when considering college entrance applications. Through AP courses, students demonstrate their commitment and academic potential, which helps them stand out from the thousands of college applicants each year.

Easier College Transition

As the AP program gives its students a foretaste of college classes, aspiring students sharpen their skills and help them adapt quickly during their academic transition from high school to college.

Prepare for the Future

AP programs develop future-ready life skills, including time management, critical thinking, independent study, and more. Research shows that these traits help them succeed not just in college but also in their careers.

Save Time and Money

As mentioned, earning college credit or advanced placement through an AP program can free up more time in each student’s schedule for courses they are most interested in or give them a chance to graduate early.
