My classroom is modeled around using critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving strategies. We look at a variety of texts and materials in order to learn about an eclectic mixture of topics. Literacy development is the focus of my classes. We also practice writing and grammar so we can express our ideas clearly and confidently.

What is the philosophy behind your teaching?

  • My classroom is modeled around using critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving strategies. We look at a variety of texts and materials in order to learn about an eclectic mixture of topics. Literacy development is the focus of my classes. We also practice writing and grammar so we can express our ideas clearly and confidently.

What is your favorite subject (or part of your subject) and why?

  • My favorite part of teaching Grades 6&7 English is making connections between our texts and history, social studies, science, and psychology. I enjoy watching students find correlations between the texts we are reading and other bases of knowledge they have.

What is your desire for students, both academically and personally?

  • In addition to becoming lifelong learners, my desire is that my students will continue to use creativity when critical thinking and problem-solving. I want them to enter society thinking “What if?” and “Why?” at every turn. My dream is that my students will be able to follow directions and understand the rules, but also be creative thinkers who can find new ways to finish tasks and solve problems.
