As our alumni continue to grow in numbers, we’re trying our best to engage with the graduates to know more where they are at post-ICSN (formerly known as GES)

For this entry in our “Where Are They Now?” series, we will highlight Ms. Tara Pattaraporn Watjanatepin, who enrolled at Global English School in Grade 1 and graduated in 2014. After graduating, Tara went to Belgium to pursue a bachelor of science in industrial sciences, chemical engineering technology; she stayed on at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven) to complete her master’s degree in biochemical engineering technology. She is currently living in Singapore, working as an Innovation and New Business Consultant at a company called Alcimed. Milk thoroughly enjoys the opportunity to work on projects with international clients and collaborating with many insightful colleagues at her job.

Talking about her time at ICSN (formerly known as GES), Tara fondly recalled British Literature because of her love for reading novels. She says her love of reading was initially inspired in G5 by Mrs. Katie Wong who was a fan of the Anne of Green Gables series and had her books on display in our classroom. “She was one of the first to influence me to love reading, and I think that’s one of the most impactful things that shaped me to be me.” And if you couldn’t guess by her choices for higher education, Biology and Chemistry were also subjects she enjoyed learning. Her favorite student life moments were from overnight camps and Christmas programs, because she got to organize the games and shows with her friends and teachers. Tara also noted that ICSN (formerly known as GES) really helped her in building a solid language foundation. At university, she realized that she could easily do scientific writing in English and had no issues when it came to doing research papers.

You’d be surprised at how many people did not understand the concept of plagiarism or correct forms of citations or just using first person when writing research papers. Mrs. Megan prepared me extremely well in that sense.”
Thank you, Tara, for sharing a window into your current stage of life. We only hope the best for you as you continue to work towards your professional goals!
