Prepared for Success: International Christian School Nonthaburi’s Pre-ACE Program

As the top international Christian school in Nonthaburi, ICSN recognizes its students’ God-given talents, strengths, and academic aptitude and inspires them to unlock their full potential in Math and Science through the Pre-Academic Competition Excellence (Pre-ACE) program.

Setting Up ICSN Students for Academic Success: The Pre-ACE Program

The Pre-Academic Competition Excellence (ACE) Program offers opportunities for high-achieving students in grades 3-9 with a GPA of 3.5 or higher in Math or Science who are looking to take on academic challenges beyond the regular classroom.

The Pre-ACE Program nurtures and develops students by connecting them with academic mentors who have excelled in national competitions in Nonthaburi, Bangkok, throughout Thailand, as well as international competitions abroad. Pre-ACE mentors teach advanced concepts, share effective strategies, and guide students in preparing for national assessments in Math and Science.

The Pre-ACE Program’s long-term vision is to support gifted students in competing at the international level. But more than awards and trophies, what ICSN values is how students build academic confidence, strengthen their portfolios, and enhance their applications to prestigious universities worldwide.

Proven Success: The Impact of ICSN’s ACE Program

The school launched its pilot program in January 2025 and has already yielded impressive results. A select group of 64 students attended weekly pre-ACE classes (the preliminary phase of the ACE program) to gauge and enhance their competition readiness. The students’ dedication, guided by mentors Kru Ant and guest mentors from Triam Udom Suksa School, led to significant achievements in their first academic competitions:

  • Kangaroo Math Competition: 1 Silver Award, 2 Bronze Awards, 5 Merit Awards.
  • Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad (HKIMO): 1 Silver Award, 4 Bronze Awards, 10 Merit Awards 10

These early successes showed the effectiveness of the Pre-ACE approach in building academic confidence. When asked about the key factors that drove immediate success, Kru Ant, one of the Pre-ACE mentors, shares three key aspects about the program.

“First, the program design. Pre-ACE is intentionally structured to create consistent practice among students through mock tests, past exam papers, and timed challenges. This alone helped students improve their accuracy, speed, and strategic thinking and reduced test-related anxiety. Second, mentorship. Our mentors have a deep understanding of academic competition formats, question patterns, and common pitfalls. And third, a supportive and competitive learning environment. While those two words may not seem to go together, the atmosphere among top-performing students created a collaborative environment. The peer dynamic motivated students to excel and continuously push their academic boundaries.”

Kru Ant further explains that the “mentors have a personalized approach, such as assigning customized problem sets. Strong students are exposed to more advanced, multi-step Olympiad problems. While developing students had foundational exercises that gradually increased in difficulty. Keeping the difficulty just above the comfort zone promotes growth without frustration.”

“I’m especially excited by the potential to integrate resources, global competition platforms, and interdisciplinary learning experiences into the program [so] that students are not only prepared for exams but also for real-world problems. Ultimately, what excites me most is seeing students realize that academic excellence isn’t just about high scores. It’s about unlocking purpose, leadership, and a lifelong love of learning.”
