How does International Christian School Nonthaburi support its students in local and international college and university acceptance?

Education Counselling Mastery Process

Every academic journey is unique. That’s why we’ve implemented the Education Counselling Mastery Process to provide a support system for our students and parents through personalized consultations with our experienced guidance counselor. Together, we’ll identify your child’s strengths and potential and set goals for a holistic support system at home and school.

“ICSN has helped me [prepare for college] in many ways, but most importantly academically, especially at the latter part of my education. Their programs, such as AP programs, really helped me prepare for university as they are a foundation for my classes and subjects at university. Because of my early exposure to those subjects, I was able to adapt easily.” – MJ Lebuna, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang

Self Break-Through: Unlocking Student Potential to Achieve Goals

University preparation starts at International Christian School Nonthaburi as early as 6th grade. It continues through the 12th grade using a 4-stage process to college acceptance.

ICSN’s 4 Stages of Self-Breakthrough

Stage 1: Explore (Grades 6-8)

Students explore their strengths and potential from grades 6 to 8, unlocking their talents and interests. The school equips each student with hard skills to cover the essential learner attributes of the time, such as scientific computing, analytical reasoning, sales, and AI, alongside soft skills that will take them through life, including creativity, persuasion, adaptability, EQ, and leadership.

ICSN encourages its students to try various experiences that will help them discover and nurture their talent. In the exploration stage, it is beneficial for students to be exposed to career-based competitions such as Robotics, First Tech Challenge Thailand, Project Association, Swimming, Piano, Debate, Storytelling, and Ballet. The school provides some extracurricular activities as opportunities, but families are free to choose other programs that suit their children’s needs.

Stage 2: Experience (Grades 9-10)

The I-Career: Journey Your Dream Workshop is a pivotal point of the experience stage, where students can clearly define what they want for their future. Through this activity, ICSN helps students explore various career paths through workshops and listening to guest speakers from global universities. Additionally, students get a foretaste of college life by going on university field trips in Thailand.

“ICSN helped [me] choose a college to go to through the opportunities of visiting universities or universities visiting our school.” Says an ICSN 2024 graduate about how the school supported her class in finding the right university for them.

In the experience stage, students prepare to enter their desired colleges by acquiring university requirements such as IELTS, SAT, BMAT, and AP. Students are also encouraged to be involved in extra activities like global competitions and to gather experience as trainees in different fields.

Stage 3: University Reflection (Grade 11)

Plan—Do—Check—Act is a model developed for university preparation. The guidance counselor gathers a student’s profile, from grades to awards, and guides them into working out a timeline to prepare for standardized tests, acquire workshops and internships, and learn about the college application process. The guidance counselor reviews the plan with each student as they apply for universities and scholarships.

“The school helped me with my English, which helped me adapt to college and life in America. [Having good communication skills] helped me with my lessons and do my work efficiently. Academically, many electives helped me gain skills I could use in college, like digital communication, which has been very useful to my course.” – Ing-Ing Pongrattanakul, Kent State University, USA

Stage 4: Empower (Grade 12)

By the 12th grade, students will have decided on the right course and university that fits their talents and goals. The school empowers them to acquire IELTS7+, SAT, and BMAT and collaboratively build their portfolios.

“Specifically writing essays and presentation skills, ICSN prepared me well for public speaking and writing.” -ICSN alumna.
